Obama's In Laos, Here's Where You Can Tune In

Right now Barack Obama is in Laos, a very big deal as the first U.S. President to visit the country. While there, he'll will be participating in the U.S.-ASEAN Summit and the East Asia Summit, meetings with President Bounnhang Vorachith and other key officials, and lastly the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Summit. In addition, Mr. Obama will open ties with Laos to seek conciliation years after the United States dropped numerous bombs — 12million to be exact - many of which remain buried and unexploded — on the country during the Vietnam War. Of course a very big congrats goes out to our friends at Legacies of War for all of their efforts to get a conversation going about the how America will help clean up those unexploded bombs still remaining. Obama's historical speech will take place Tuesday September 5 at U.S. Embassy in Vientiane. If you'd like to keep up what's going on, be sure to follow us on social media on Twitter and Facebook, but also the very informative Little Laos On The Prairie will also be covering the event.

Legacies has a hashtag #LaObama if you want to follow them as well as a cool promotion on their Facebook page asking what you'd ask Obama to get a free #LaObama shirt, seen above (on the left is artwork courtesy of Nor Sanavongsay). Founder Channapha Khamvongsa will also be guest-speaking on CBS Evening News Monday night (September 4th) which you can also watch online here.

Lastly, the U.S. Embassy in Vientiane also has a hashtag #ObamaLaos, but also there's a rumor that Obama's speech will be livestreamed via their Facebook page at 1OPM (EST).
